Here are the updated scores from the 2016 A Cat Winter Series. Ken Marshack is carrying a strong lead into our 3rd event next week at the St. Pete NOOD, with Woody Cope nipping at his heals and Mike Krantz battling out behind them.
Anyone notice a distinct lack of foiling in the front of the pack? Woody is marked a foiler, after sailing our first event with his foiler, but pulled the second boat out of his quiver for the Midwinters to the cries of, “NOT THE NIKITA AGAIN!!!” from around the fleet. So I guess he’s half a foiler, and we can all hope to see the foiling half at the next event!
As a reminder of how we’re scoring the series: we score your best 3 of the 6 events, and use a high point system that rewards more points for doing well against the larger fleets. If you’re not familiar with high point systems, that means first place in our last event (Bailey White) received 32 points, the number of boats at the event. And second (Woody) recieved 31 points, etc. At the end of the series, we’ll total up your scores for your best 3 events and crown a winner, with a perpetual tropy sponsored by B&C Technologies. Thanks to Mike Krantz for taking on the thankless job of Chief Scorekeeper.
We have four more events to round out the series:
12-14 Feb St. Pete NOOD at St. Pete YC – 18 boats registered!
10-13 Mar Bacardi Miami Sailing Week – 15 boats registered!
25-27 Mar Admiral’s Cup – Sarasota FL
22-24 Apr Caterwaul Panama City
Looking forward to seeing everyone next week!
